Season ends for Camperdown seniors
CAMPERDOWN ended its Colac-South West Premier season with a 115 run loss to Irrewarra at SA Wright Oval last Saturday.

The visitors batted first, making 7/221 from their 50 overs.
“It was an almost kind of day,” Camperdown captain Steve Fisher said.
“I reckon they would’ve had at least eight for the game that they inside edged that missed the stumps, and catches that just went over blokes’ heads by a metre or two that could’ve been the difference on potentially rolling them for 130 instead of what they made.”
James O’Neil, Noah Riches and Fisher took two wickets each, but it was Harry Sumner, with 1/38 from 10 overs with the new ball, who most impressed the Lakers skipper.
“Harry’s been a real positive for the last three or four weeks.
“He’s taken the role of opening the bowling and really stepped up to the mark, it’s worked out that Jimmy has bowled at first change as opposed to opening, so gives our bowling range a little bit more depth.”
The Lakers lost consistent wickets in the run chase, with none of their top order firing.
“As soon as a few guys get a start we normally have one or two of them go on, but when it doesn’t happen (like on Saturday), it makes batting for the guys that shouldn’t have to worry about batting, pretty hard.”
Number eight Ethan Coates top scored with 28 from 59 balls as Camperdown was bowled out in 37 overs for 106.
“Ethan brings a lot of energy to our group, he batted really well.”
Camperdown finished the season in 13th place with three wins.
“There was a lot of positives from the season, we’re already planning for next year and hoping to have a couple of recruits lined up already.”
Camperdown’s division three team finished its season with an eight wicket loss to Cobden at Camperdown number two.
Batting first, the Lakers made 6/240 from their 40 overs.
Shane Stephens top scored with 92 not out from 81 balls, hitting 16 boundaries, with skipper Daniel Missen making 56 from 40 balls.
Cobden cruised to victory in the 33rd over for the loss of two wickets, Ross McIlveen claiming both scalps in his 2/52 from eight overs.
The division three Lakers finish the season in fifth place with four wins.
Camperdown’s under 13 team is through to the grand final after defeating Cobden in Monday night’s semi-final.
Cobden batted first and made 3/100 from its 24 overs, with Eddie Gellie taking two wickets.
Camperdown replied with 5/123, with Beau Smith making 21 retired and Patrick Greig 20 retired.
In the grand final this Monday night, Camperdown will play Bookaar at Boorcan.
