Second win for Power
KOLORA-Noorat registered its second win of the season in the Warrnambool and District senior football competition on Saturday, defeating Panmure by 38 points.
After being down by five points at quarter time, the Power hit the front in the second term before going on to record an 11.8.74 to 4.12.36 win at the Panmure Recreation Reserve.
“The first quarter was pretty even, they probably should’ve kicked a couple more goals, after that we were pretty well on top for the rest of the game,” Power coach Shane Scanlon said.
“It was tough conditions, we stood up, it was pretty muddy throughout most of the ground, there was only a spot on the far side away from the sheds that wasn’t too bad.
“That was the spot to go through if you wanted to try and get some proper footy going; that was about the only spot you could do it.”
Centre half back Brad Lucas was best for Kolora-Noorat in the win.
“Brad’s a tall player that handles those conditions well, just a good strong body over the footy and good in the air as well.
“He was good at intercepting marks or getting a fist to it when on their entry to the forward line.”
Scanlon was pleased with the overall team effort with all players contributing.
“We probably didn’t rely as heavily on the same three or four that we usually do.
“Not that they didn’t play well, but there was just enough other contributors right across the ground, which was good.”
Mid-season recruit Bailey Cooper, who had been playing for Geelong Football League club North Shore, made his senior debut for Kolora-Noorat, kicking two goals.
“Bailey has been a bit of a lucky get really in the end, he played a game on permit in the ressies last week just via mutual friends and now he’s made the move to the area for work.
“He was really impressive, particularly because he’s a fairly tall, athletic mobile forward, he was another one that was just really clean with his hands, didn’t fumble, and he really stood out in the conditions.”
Apart from Cooper, Ted Kenna and Justin Wallace also kicked two goals each.
This week the Power host Old Collegians at the Noorat Recreation Reserve.
“It’s another one that will be a hard game, but we’re not without a chance.
“We’ve been competitive against pretty much everyone, we’re hoping in the second half of the year we might be able to snag a couple of maybe slightly unexpected wins against some better sides.”
The reserves match saw Panmure have a 12.3.75 to 5.5.35 win.
Xavier Riches, Joshua Freeman and Nathan Williams were Kolora-Noorat’s best, with Josh Brown kicking two goals.
The only junior football game was the under 13.5s, which saw Panmure win 2.4.16 to 1.2.8.
Charlie Simpson, Crawford Dunn, Harrison Gurry, Hamish Messer, Muhammed Arslan and Jack Menz were best for the junior Power, with Simpson kicking the lone goal.

In the A grade netball, Kolora-Noorat had a strong 50-29 win.
Ailish Glennen, Tara Elliott and Molly Bourke were the Power’s best in the win.
Elliott dominated, shooting 39 goals.
The A reserve game saw Kolora-Noorat win 28-16.
Sophie Lehmann, Zoe James and Grace Lee were best for the Power, with Lee putting through 20 goals.
The B grade game saw Kolora-Noorat score a tight 30-29 win.
Grace Roberts, Emily Hayden and Alexis Ameduri were best, with Alexandra Smith shooting 16 goals.
The 17 and under netball saw Kolora-Noorat have a 20-18 win.
Stella Kavanagh, Millicent Black and Harriot Riches were the Power’s best, with Riches shooting 12 goals and Eliza Beaton seven.
Kolora-Noorat scored a 21-18 win in the 15 and under game.
Bella Scanlon, Ruby Williams and Dekohda McVilly were best for the Power, with Skyla Coburn scoring 20 goals.
Panmure got the points in the 13 and under game with a 16-8 win.
Lahnii O’Neil, Tilli Hutchins and Lexie Williams were the Power’s best, with O’Neil shooting six goals.
The 11 and under game saw Panmure win 11-4.
Zoe Hayden, Dakota Mason and Scarlett Baulch were best for the junior Power team, with Rosie Selman scoring two goals and Sophie Simpson and Zoe Hayden one each.
