Seeing the region through local eyes
RESIDENTS with a love of their area and a keen eye for photography are being encouraged to photograph the lakes of the Camperdown area for Sunnyside House for their ‘Through Local Eyes: Capturing Camperdown and District’ display.
Sunnyside House chief executive officer Jo Forrest said the idea was to bring the character and beauty of lakes Purrumbete, Bullen Merri, Colongulac, Corangamite and Gnotuk to residents of the facility.
“As part of our lounge room refurbishment, we are creating a permanent collection of local photography that celebrates the landscapes, lakes, landmarks, wildlife and unique character of Camperdown and the surrounding district,” she said.
“Selected images will be professionally enlarged – if required – and displayed throughout Sunnyside House, with photographers acknowledged alongside their work.
“Residents will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite photograph, with a Residents’ Choice Award to be presented to the winning photographer.
“The project is designed to create a warm, welcoming and homelike environment for residents while celebrating the community they proudly call home.
“The photographs will help evoke memories of the places where residents lived, worked, raised families and enjoyed recreation throughout their lives.”
Submissions of high-resolution images can be made through email to jforrest@sunnysidehouse.com.au or delivered in person to Sunnyside House at 1 Adeney Street, Camperdown before July 31.
