Solid performance after services return
A STRONG run of performance has continued on the Warrnambool Line throughout May following the completion of planned works.

V/Line made the most of the services running, with a reliability score of 100 per cent being reached throughout May – exceeding the performance target of at least 96 per cent of services running.
The punctuality result fell just shy of reaching the performance target of 92 per cent, with 91.9 per cent of services arriving on time throughout the month.
“The Warrnambool Line recorded 100 per cent for reliability and 91.9 per cent for punctuality in the month of May,” the V/Line spokesperson said.
“Fares are half price on all Victorian public transport until the end of the year, and bookings have returned for passengers planning to travel on the Warrnambool Line.”
Western District Newspapers understands the punctuality of Warrnambool train services in May was influenced by external factors such as trespass incidents, as well as internal factors such as faults.
V/Line will continue to undertake upgrades and maintenance to improve performance, such as the upgrades and maintenance works along the Geelong and Warrnambool lines which took place until May 13.
This included upgrading the Warrnambool Stabling Yard to support future performance.
Warrnambool Line services continue to be more popular than ever, and the Victorian Government has introduced half-priced travel on public transport until the end of the year from June 1.
The pricing change is saving the average daily commuter more than $850 from June 1 until the end of the year.
Warrnambool Line passengers now pay no more than $5.70 per return fare, compared to up to $78.80 prior to the regional fare cap in 2023.
