St Colman’s launches major fundraiser
ST COLMAN’S Primary School will hold an online raffle this year as part of the school’s major fundraiser.

ST COLMAN’S Primary School will hold an online raffle this year as part of the school’s major fundraiser.
A variety of local businesses have thrown their support behind the fundraiser with great prizes on offer:
First prize: $3000 voucher supplied by Scott’s Betta Home Living, Mortlake;
Second prize: $1000 Neighbourhood Benefit EFTPOS card supplied by Mortlake South Wind Farm developer ACCIONA to be spent in Mortlake, Noorat or Terang; and
Third prize: $500 voucher supplied by Bates IGA Supermarket, Mortlake.
St Colman’s principal Tim Bourke said the online raffle would be a first for the school.
“We have relied for many years on parental support for their generosity, their time and energy, to do the local contributions we need to fund our school,” he said.
“That’s become more difficult in these times so we’re now moving to a major raffle that seeks to reach a greater audience and involve past families and past community members, and also relies on the generosity of local businesses to provide prizes.
“We looked for other opportunities in the past where we’ve relied on cake raffles and catering and many things, but this is a bigger initiative to provide for the needs of the kids.”
Mr Bourke said he was grateful for the support from Scott’s Betta Home Living, ACCIONA and Bates IGA.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards resurfacing the basketball court in a soft surface product when the school begins construction of a shed over the court later this year.
The revitalised facilities in the basketball court area will allow students to play and participate in physical education through all weather conditions.
Tickets are now available for $25 each, with the school selling a maximum of 600.
Tickets are available online at https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing?eid=735662&, or by contacting the school on 5599 2285 or email at jlee@scmortlake.catholic.edu.au.
The raffle will be drawn during St Colman’s annual trivia night on Friday, June 18.
