Strong market over weekend
CAMPERDOWN Rotary Club’s monthly market saw a strong crowd last weekend, capturing travellers on their way to and from their long weekend plans.
Rotary Club secretary Graeme Fischer said the weather proved kind to the over 20 stallholders on the day, encouraging the public to come out in force.
“Even better we have some volunteers prepared to assist collecting money at the clock tower during the Robert Burns Celtic Festival on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 while club members are busy with other tasks,” he said.
“Thank you – it is much appreciated.
“There were two bins filled with recycled materials.
“The public is responding very well to the Rotary Club of Camperdown’s recycling program.
“Over the past eight years we have collected over 600 hearing aids and 1800 pairs of glasses for refurbishing and recycling.”
Mr Fischer said there are other items being sought by the club as part of their recycling programs.
“Did you know we also collect old moon boots, walking sticks and mobility aids?” he said.
“After our last delivery to RARE (Rotary Australia Recycling Equipment) we learnt that the mobility aids were sent in a container to Papua New Guinea to a rural hospital which previously did not have these items.”
