SUPERLOAD
THE biggest transport load to ever pass through Camperdown is scheduled to arrive in the early hours of this Thursday.

THE biggest transport load to ever pass through Camperdown is scheduled to arrive in the early hours of this Thursday.
The ‘superload’ is a 663 tonne transformer which is being transported from the Port of Geelong to a wind farm substation now under construction south of Lismore.
At 115 metres long, 5.12 metres wide and 5.5 metres high, the superload will be hauled by four trucks in an operation spanning three nights to reduce the impact on the road network and alleviate congestion for drivers.
The load will be longer than an A380 Airbus and will be so big that vehicles will not be able to overtake.
VicRoads acting director of heavy vehicles services Marc Paglia said the sheer weight and size of the transformer meant the average travel speed would be approximately 15-20km/h.
The first leg of the journey will start at 11pm on Monday, January 7 and travel from the Port of Geelong along St Georges Road, Cox Road, onto Geelong Ring Road then along the Princes Highway to Winchelsea, where it will park.
The second leg of the journey will start at 11pm on Tuesday, January 8 and travel along the Princes Highway from Winchelsea, turn right to Colac-Ballarat Road, travel to Beeac and reach and park at Swan Marsh.
The final leg will start at 11pm on Wednesday, January 9 from Swan Marsh, travel along the Princes Highway, along Stoneyford Road and Camperdown-Lismore Road, passing right through Camperdown before continuing on and reaching the Lismore substation by 5am on Thursday, January 10.
Camperdown people keen to get a look at the superload can do so at the corner of Leura Street and the Princes Highway at 2.38am, Thursday, January 10.
