Supporting wellbeing through colour
STUDENTS at Camperdown College’s senior campus were able to enjoy a fun and colourful day thanks to the leadership of their peers to end Term One.

The school hosted a wellbeing day for students in Years Seven-10, providing a number of practical strategies students can use every day to support positive mental health.
School for Student Leadership (SSL) coordinator Fiona Crowle said the 2025 SSL students were inspired to run the day, which was their community learning project, by a visit to an SSL school in Marlo.
“They had liaised with Brophy from South West Healthcare, who came and delivered engaging and age-appropriate sessions,” she said.
“Our Year Seven and Eight students explored the wide range of emotions we all experience, learning the importance of recognising feelings without labelling them as good or bad.
“They were encouraged to understand that all emotions are valid and to develop confidence in facing them in healthy ways.
“Meanwhile, our Year Nine and 10 students focused on building their own positive self-care plans – through thoughtful activities and discussion, they considered strategies to support their wellbeing, both now and into the future.
“Brophy staff commended our students on their exceptional participation and engagement, noting that they were a standout group among the many schools they visit.”
The day saw students able to enjoy a day out of uniform and a barbecue lunch, with all proceeds raised from purchases at the lunch donated to Brophy to support their work in providing community-based services targeted towards vulnerable and disadvantaged community groups.
Ms Crowle said the day concluded with a colour run on school grounds, with many runners plastered in coloured chalk.
“The coloured chalk used for the event was generously provided through a donation from local business GBM Technologies and we thank them for their support,” she said.
“Overall, it was a fantastic day that highlighted the leadership of our SSL students and reinforced the importance of wellbeing, connection and community within our school.”
