Swans dominate at home
A SEVEN goal to one first quarter paved the way for a dominant win for Caramut’s senior footballers over Glenthompson/Dunkeld on Saturday.
The Swans scored their fifth win of the season with a 16.13.109 to 3.5.23 scoreline at the Caramut Recreation Reserve.
“We started the day in a pretty strong fashion, the boys were ready to go,” Caramut coach Scott Judd said.
“We played probably some of the best brand of footy we’ve played all season.”
Defender Jackson Campbell-Brown was best in the win.
“Jacko’s playing back pocket and he has just been Mr Consistent in the backline, he always does the team things and plays his role to the best of his ability.”
Judd was impressed with the games of promoted players Matthew Rook and Aubrey Watson.
“Matthew came up from the ressies, he’s probably been a little bit unlucky to not be in the seniors prior to this week.
“He and Aubrey Watson both came up out of the reserves and both were a shining light with their little bit of x-factor, their run and carry, and their will to utilise their strengths, which is their speed, they definitely shone on Saturday.”
Damien Wynd, Joel Harriss, Ben Makepeace and captain Charlie Farrer kicked three goals each in the win.
“It was really pleasing from a team aspect, I think it’s the first time in my time at the club that we’ve won all four quarters.
“It was not only the four quarter effort, but it also sets the tone for the rest of the year that we have the belief that we can actually push it with the top teams.”
Caramut’s reserves also had a strong win, 15.13.103 to 2.2.14.
Nicholas Walker, Finn Dennis and Riley Fox were best for the Swans, Walker bagging six goals and Fox four.
“We’re getting really good numbers to training and it’s showing in both grades what that can do,” Judd said.
The under 17 game saw Glenthompson/Dunkeld score a 12.11.83 to 1.3.9 win.
Samual O’Sullivan, Charlie Jarvis and Fergus Giles were best for the Swans, with Bodie Jubb kicking the only goal.
The under 13 game saw Caramut win by one point, 2.3.15 to 2.2.14.
Best for the Swans were William Pearse, Harry Diprose and Arlo McRae.
The A grade netball saw Glenthompson/Dunkeld score a 42-41 win.
Caramut’s best were Paige McInnes and Zoe Wagstaff, with Wagstaff scoring 23 goals and Maddi Calvert 18.
The B grade game saw Glenthompson/Dunkeld record a 41-29 win.
Maddie Higginson and Charlotte Delaney were best for Caramut, with Delaney shooting 16 goals and April Edwards 13.
In C grade, Caramut scored a 31-17 win.
Naomi Lee and Cloe Folkes were the Swans best with Julia Mann shooting 23 goals.
Glenthompson/Dunkeld was too strong in the 17 and under netball, recording a 53-20 win.
Sarah Russell and Lily McCabe were best for the Swans, with Naomi Lee shooting nine goals.
The 15 and under netball saw Glenthompson/Dunkeld record a 32-16 win.
Alex Lehmann and Grace O’Sullivan were best for Caramut, with Lehmann scoring six goals.
In the 13 and under game, Glenthompson/Dunkeld had a 29-9 win.
Charlie Young was best for the junior Swans, with Tessa Young shooting six goals.
Caramut’s day ended with its annual goods and services auction.
“It was great to have a very successful day in both netball and football, then leading to the goods and service auction, which was an extremely successful night,” Judd said.
“It was definitely nice to have that positive atmosphere, the clubrooms were absolutely packed as well, to get the small community town all together, and a few families that probably haven’t been around the club a lot coming back and seeing their faces is always a good sign that you’re going in the right direction.”
