Table tennis final set
THE two teams that finished the season at the top of the ladder have won their way through to the grand final of Terang Table Tennis.
Rhino’s, while pushed by I Don’t Care, won convincingly 6-1.
Both doubles matches were close, with Rhino’s winning both in the fourth game.
The closest individual match was between Vesha Chapagai and Michael Pearson, with Vesha winning 11-8, 8-11, 12-10, 6-11 and 11-7.
Vesha won his three singles, Tony Young won all his games and John Rantall won one singles which rounded out the team wins.
Michael Pearson contributed his team’s only win.
The other contest was a much closer affair, with TIC winning 6-3.
For TIC it was a team contribution to the wins, with Colin Venn and Tyler Smith winning two singles and Ian Rochfort one.
Mark Smith battled hard to win his three singles which included defeating son Tyler in five games and Colin in four.
Tyler had to work hard to defeat Ron Cook in five games 11-7, 7-11, 12-10, 2-11 and 11-9.
The grand final between Rhino’s and TIC should be very close.
Each team has one victory against the other, however in both instances there were players missing.
Both team’s number two player is capable of beating the opposition’s number one.
Doubles will be extremely important in deciding the outcome.
