Tablet lessons to build confidence

CORANGAMITE Shire residents aged 55 and over and people living with a disability are invited to build their confidence using tablets through a supportive and accessible learning program.

Whether it’s staying connected with family and friends through video calls, accessing online services such as banking or Medicare or enjoying movies and other digital content, the program aims to help participants develop practical skills for everyday life.

Corangamite Shire Council’s positive ageing, access and inclusion team will deliver free, hands-on sessions designed to be welcoming, flexible and easy to follow for people of all abilities and experience levels.

Coordinator Belinda Rowbottom said the program focuses on creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can learn at their own pace.

“Our sessions are designed to be friendly, relaxed and accessible so participants feel comfortable and supported,” she said.

“We provide small group settings with one-on-one assistance so people can learn in a way that suits their needs and confidence level.”

Participants are welcome to bring their own tablet or use one of the devices provided.

Council secured a $3000 grant from Good Things Australia to deliver the program, which includes new tablets to support people who may not have access to technology or who are just starting out.
