Talent on the greens
CAMPERDOWN College students have taken their lawn bowl skills to Ararat to compete in the Greater Western Region lawn bowls competition.

Three junior and two senior teams competed in the March 26 event, pitting their skills against those from across the region, including Hopetoun, Phoenix College, Mount Clear, Ararat, Trinity College, Cobden and Derrinallum.
“It was a fantastic day of competition,” student wellbeing officer and lawn bowls enthusiast, Kathryn Robertson, said.
“All matches were played in great spirit, with a high level of skill on display. The standard of competition continues to improve each year, with many students regularly competing in weekend bowls.”
Camperdown’s junior teams competed across four sections.
A standout performance came from Syd Walsh, Bailey Fox and Ella Riches who finished on top of their section with two wins and progressing to the semi-finals.
They secured a narrow 6-4 victory over Mount Clear to advance to the preliminary final against host school, Ararat.
In a close match that went down to the final end, Ararat claimed a narrow 5-4 win.
In the senior competition, teams played across two sections.
Camperdown’s novice team of Fletcher Tolland, Bree Daffy and Noah Clarke showed great resilience, playing five consecutive games to finish with one win, one draw and three loses.
The second senior team, Keira Johnston, Noah Riches and Chase Fleming, finished with one win and two close losses.
“Congratulations to all 16 students who represented our college so well,” Kathryn said.
“Their sportsmanship, determination and willingness to compete right to the final end of each game was outstanding.”
