The Tigers travelled to Derrinallum to take on the Demons on Saturday in what was anticipated would be a close, physical match-up.

With both sides currently sitting in the top five on the Mininera League ladder, the round five points were eagerly sought.

The Demons got off to a quick start in the opening term, kicking 3.1 to the Tigers’ 1.3 before both sides took momentum into the second, with the Tigers getting to within nine points at the main break.

The margin was brought back to eight points by three-quarter time before the visitors stepped up in the final term, kicking 4.2 to the Demon’s 2.3 to clench the win by under a goal.

Final scores were Woorndoo Mortlake 9.12.66 to Lismore Derrinallum 9.9.63.

Best for the Tigers were Haydn Templeton, Tom Gough, Jack Richie, Matthew Pemberton, Dougal Sweeney and Kane Killen.

Jack Clifford was strong up forward, booting three majors, while Pemberton added two.

Jordan Buckley, Jesse Horan, Tim McIntyre and Will Templeton each contributed a goal.

Earlier in the day the Tigers’ reserves were outscored by the Demons, going down by 37 points, 6.5.41 to 11.12.78.

Best for the Tigers were Matthew Bourchier, Liam Schuuring, Josh Mahncke, James Henry, Lachlan Waters and Tipa Brown.

Goal scorers were Henry, Tahi Pompey, Jaxon Rowe, Tyler Schafer and Waters.

The Tigers’ had mixed results on the netball courts, winning three of the six games played.

A grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Lismore Derrinallum 55-34.

B grade – Lismore Derrinallum defeated Woorndoo Mortlake 35-31.

C grade – Lismore Derrinallum defeated Woorndoo Mortlake 40-12. Best: Letitia Howat and Lucy Barry.

18 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Lismore Derrinallum 52-13. Best: Mia Richie and Olivia Schuuring.

15 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Lismore Derrinallum 39-7. Best: Ella McDonald and Chloe McQualter.

13 and under – Lismore Derrinallum defeated Woorndoo Mortlake 13-7.

Round six this Saturday will see Woorndoo Mortlake at home to Glenthompson Dunkeld.
