Tigers on hunt for a win
WOORNDOO/Mortlake have had a third consecutive senior football loss, going down to reigning premiers Penshurst by 59 points at Woorndoo.

The Tigers took a 17-point lead into the first break after kicking five goals to two in the first quarter.
From that point on, Woorndoo/Mortlake was completely outplayed, Penshurst kicking 15 goals to three in the last three quarters to run out 17.12.114 to 8.7.55 winners.
Thomas Gough, Jai Middleton and Haydn Templeton were Woorndoo/Mortlake’s best.
Playing his first game for the season, Jack Spokes kicked three goals for the Tigers, with two each to Middleton and Chris Crawley.
This week Woorndoo/Mortlake head to Dunkeld to take on the Rams.
In the reserves, Penshurst scored a comfortable 11.15.81 to 3.6.24 win.
Matthew Bourchier, Harry Wills and Zac Leehane were best for Woorndoo/Mortlake, with Tyne Anderson kicking two goals.
The under 16.5 game saw Penshurst score a 12.23.95 to 2.2.14 win.
Zachary Dolling, Johno Carmody and Mason Dale were the best for the junior Tigers, with Emmet Sheaves and Sam Mahncke kicking a goal each.
Down by three goals at three quarter time, Woorndoo/Mortlake’s A grade netballers fought back to get a thrilling draw against second placed Penshurst.
“It was such an intense game,” Tigers coach Bec Rohan said of the 39-39 draw.
“The atmosphere was great, the crowd were right into it, it would have been a great game to watch.”
The visitors led at every change, Rohan thrilled with how her team never gave up.
“Penshurst came out really strong, it was a see-sawing contest,” she said.
“I’m really proud of how we just hung in and kept on running it out.”
Rohan rated Brooke Richardson, Nicole Anderson and Elise KIllen as best for her team.
“That was one of Brooke’s better games, her experience really showed.
“Nicole worked really well with Brooke in the ring, while Elise ran all day in the centre.”
Anderson top scored with 20 goals, with Richardson scoring 19.
“It was just a massive team effort.”
The B grade game saw a 46-22 win to Penshurst.
Lily Schuuring led the scoring for Woorndoo/Mortlake with 15 goals.
Penshurst had a strong 44-10 win in the C grade netball, Annalise Abbott shooting eight goals.
The 18 and under match saw a 47-24 win to Penshurst.
Ava Wardlaw and Ashlee Killen were named as best for Woorndoo/Mortlake, Wardlaw shooting 14 goals and Taylah Rohan 10.
Penshurst had a 29-22 win in the 15 and under netball.
Indi Wardlaw led the Tigers’ scorers with 14.
Woorndoo/Mortlake won the 13 and under game 24-1, Paige Maddoch scoring 15 goals.
