It proved to be a weekend of narrow misses for the Bloods’ two remaining netball sides as a pair of one goal margins decided their fate across semi-final matches.
The club’s 13 and under netballers, who took out the minor premiership, will contest this Saturday’s preliminary final at Friendly Societies Park after going down in last weekend’s second semi-final.
The Bloods fell to South Warrnambool 25-24 in wet conditions at D.C. Farran Oval to set up a sudden death clash with early season pacesetter Koroit.
Terang Mortlake led by a single goal at quarter time before the Roosters took a one goal lead of their own into the main break.
The match went goal-for-goal in the third term as scores were level at 19-all with 10 minutes of netball remaining.
The Bloods led by as much as three with four minutes to play before South Warrnambool finished over the top to book their spot in the grand final on September 21.
Defender Anna Dickson, wing defence Mia Richie and goal attack Alice Suhan were named best.
Meanwhile, the season came to an end for Terang Mortlake’s 15 and under netballers after going down to North Warrnambool 29-28 in last Sunday’s first semi-final at Leura Oval.
Goal shooter Maddison Chesshire top scored for the Bloods with 18 goals, while Grace Wareham contributed 10.
May Suhan was named best in a losing side, with Zoee Boyden also proving valuable throughout the contest.
