Truck fuel tank breached
EMERGENCY services were called to an accident on Monday which saw diesel spilled on Manifold Street.

EMERGENCY services were called to an accident on Monday which saw diesel spilled on Manifold Street.
A parked vehicle has attempted to pull out of a parking bay and collided with a truck travelling towards Warrnambool.
The vehicle has ruptured the truck’s fuel tank on impact, causing diesel to spill onto the road for a number of blocks before the truck could safely pull over.
Five CFA vehicles attended the scene, blocking drains to ensure the spilt diesel didn’t affect the environment.
Cobden Police senior constable Gagan Singh said the fuel leaked from the breached tank for about 500 metres before the truck came to a stop.
“Details were exchanged, and there were no injuries to any party,” he said.
“The car was towed from the scene and the truck was repaired.
“We’ve got CCTV footage, and we got everything else we needed.”
Snr Const Singh reminded drivers to take care and pay attention to their surroundings on the road.
CFA District Six commander Grant Bews said the job was reasonably straightforward, simplified by the fact there were no injuries.
“There was a footpath that was closed for a short period of time, which was reopened on the completion of the job,” he said.
“The job came in at 9.40am and was under control within 20 minutes of CFA arriving.
“Once that happened, the scene was handed over to police, and they released the scene.”
VicRoads and Corangamite Shire Council cleaned up the spilt diesel.
