Upgrades begin for Mortlake Caravan Park
MORTLAKE Caravan Park became a hive of activity recently as works get under way to bolster the future of the site with increased accommodation capacity.

MORTLAKE Caravan Park became a hive of activity recently as works get under way to bolster the future of the site with increased accommodation capacity.
A Moyne Shire Council representative confirmed works had begun to install five studio cabins and to increase the number of available campsites which will be serviced by power, water and sewerage.
Moyne Shire mayor Daniel Meade welcomed the upgrades for the caravan park and the expected flow of economic benefits to the Mortlake community.
“It’s fantastic to see a start being made on the additional cabins, which will be an asset to not just the Mortlake Caravan Park but also to the Mortlake community,” he said.
“The cabins will be available to holiday makers, those passing through or visiting family in the area, and will also be available for any workers who may be working on nearby projects.
“There is a greater economic benefit for the town if employees on local projects can actually be based in the town and supporting local businesses, whether that is the local IGA or local hotels.
“It adds another option and attracts people not only to the Mortlake caravan park, but also to the town in general. We’re certainly looking forward to having them open and available early in the new year.”
The works were one of 10 Moyne Shire Council projects funded through a $2.72 million allocation under the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program, which was announcedlast year.
Works on the $360,000 project are expected to be completed by November.
