Viewing platform now open
A NEW viewing platform and shelter has now been opened at Mount Noorat.

Construction on the new platform and shelter were recently completed and open for those traversing the iconic landmark to enjoy.
The new additions were designed for the harsh environment and will be durable, long-term assets to the mount.
Works began after the old, treated pine viewing platform on the edge of the crater had reached the end of its useful life.
The new platform is in the same footprint, offering views looking north-west towards the crater.

The shelter, about 50 metres down the gravel path, has been oriented to avoid prevailing winds.
Seating and information signs have been installed and native tussock grass planted around the new structures.
An opening event will be held with date and format to be decided.
The project has been the work of the Mt Noorat Management Committee, which is responsible for implementing the 30-year vision of the Mt Noorat Management Plan which aims to provide quality visitor experiences.
