Volleyball leaders look strong
POACHERS and NOBTS have locked away the top spots on the Corangamite volleyball ladder.
Percentage boosting wins in round six showed them to be clearly the best two teams in the competition.
With two rounds to be played before the finals night, Freeballers could make a late run for the ‘big dance’ on June 23 but their form is inconsistent at best and unreliable at worst.
They were out-classed 4-0 by Poachers before struggling to a 2-2 draw with cellar-dwellars IGA Ninjas.
Champs were also challenged by the Ninjas who lost the first set, won the second and determinedly fought out the third before being edged out 15-13.
Round six results:
Poachers def Freeballers 4-0. Champs def IGA Ninjas 2-1, NOBTS def Ballbusters 4-0, Poachers def Ballbusters 5-0, Freeballers drew IGA Ninjas 2-2 and NOBTS def Champs 3-0.
Ladder after round six:
Poachers 40, NOBTS 32, Freeballers 26, Champs 24, Ballbusters 16 and IGA Ninjas 6.
