After wet weather and high winds tore through the district last week, Mables Road in Glenfyne was closed by council on Tuesday, June 24 until the next day when a contractor could arrive at the scene.

“A tree had split and was overhanging the road caught up in another tree,” a Corangamite Shire Council spokesperson said.

“Large vehicles wouldn’t have been able to get under.”

The contractor made quick work of the obstruction and by lunchtime on Wednesday, June 25, traffic was free to flow again.

Drivers should take care to drive to the conditions and be cautious on the road during periods of high winds.
