Wet start to autumn

THE region experienced a wet start to autumn, with higher-than-average rainfall welcomed by farmers.


Camperdown saw 53.2mm of rainfall recorded for the month of March – an improvement on March 2025’s total of 21.5mm.

The figure is also above the long-term monthly average of 36.6mm.

The highest daily rainfall was recorded on March 2, where 16mm hit the ground.

To date, Camperdown’s total rainfall for 2026 is 75.9mm.

Meanwhile, Lismore recorded 42.6mm of rainfall over the month.

The figure is just over double the previous year’s total of 20.8mm in same month, as well as above the March average of 34.9mm.

The highest daily rainfall for Lismore was 10.4mm, which was recorded on March 27.

Lismore’s rainfall tally for 2026 currently sits at 90.8mm.

March saw 38.6mm recorded in Derrinallum – almost double last year’s total of 15mm in the same month.

The figure is also higher than the long-term monthly average of 33.9mm.

Derrinallum’s highest daily rainfall was recorded on March 2, when 12.2mm hit the ground over 24 hours,

Derrinallum’s total rainfall for 2026 currently sits at 61.6mm.
