For the Noorat Terang Lions, the under 15s game has now been shortened to a one-day match this Friday evening as a number of players were unavailable due to basketball finals.

The under 17s played Tuesday evening at Panmure against the strong Alllansford-Panmure side.

The home side, which features seven batsmen who play in either the division one Premier or Championship competitions, batted its 45 overs to amass a score of 6-301.

For the Lions, Max Heffernan is the only player to have played in the championship and division two sides while a number of others play regularly in division four.

Hugh Kenna was the only multiple wicket taker with 2-69.

Charlie Roberts 1-34, Lucia Clarke 1-16, Isaac Byron 1-24 and Sam Lillico 1-30 were the other successful bowlers.

Next week the aim, from a learning experience, will be to occupy the crease and bat out the 45 overs.

The club’s three senior sides are enjoying their season to date.

The division one Championship side was the only team to register a win the previous weekend, having already won on the first innings the week before, and sit undefeated on top of the ladder.

Gun batsman and English import Isaac Toombs has made the most runs in this division with 452 at an average of 113.

Tyson Hay is next best with 127 runs.

With the ball, there are three players in the top 10 with Hay in 4th position with 12 wickets, Toombs next with 11 and Tim Keane in 10th spot with eight.

This weekend they will start their two-day match against Nirranda Titans at the Jones Oval in Warrnambool.

The division two side is currently in 6th spot, one win outside the four with three wins and two losses.

Max Heffernan sits in 10th spot with 112 runs while Martin Wynd is in 7th spot with nine wickets.

Their last game for 2024 will be against Koroit at the Jack Keane Oval.

This week will be Andrew Battistello’s 100th game, weather permitting. The following week they will have the bye.

The club’s thirds in division four sit undefeated on top of the ladder.

Dean Abbott sits inside the top 10 run scorers at sixth with 145 runs.

With the ball the club has three of the top four wicket takers with Jack Kenna 12, Eamonn O’Connor 9 and Dean Abbott 8.

This weekend their game is at the Allen Oval against Warrnambool.
