Mr Davis became principal at the college around Easter last year, where he took over from previous principal Cherie Kilpatrick following her departure.

He said the seven terms he has shared at Camperdown College have “flown by”, with many projects planned and started to improve the school’s facilities at both campuses.

“One of my jobs as soon as I got here was looking at the tennis courts of the senior campus and thinking that was one of the first projects that really needs us to sink our teeth into,” Mr Davis said.

“We’ve also started on the junior campus library project, which we’re really excited to start the process of upgrading the 1960s building which replaced the old bluestone building - that building needs some attention.

“We’ve planned and we’re out for quoting for a full renovation.

“We’re also looking at the Bookaar Cricket clubrooms up at Frederick Street, which many people would see the foundations have been laid for the multi-use clubrooms, which is also really exciting for the Camperdown community and the college to have some great facilities continuing into the future.”

Mr Davis will be working at Colac South West Primary School, which is closer to home and will allow him to spend more time with his family.

“I’ve been travelling back and forth from Colac – which I’ve absolutely loved coming down here – but it’s time to head back and be a little bit closer to family and spending some time with my boys and my family,” Mr Davis said.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time here – the staff are incredibly dedicated and passionate.

“The parents of the school are involved in everything, which is amazing to see.

“The students are so well-behaved – in reality, they’re a dream.

“It will be sad to be gone, but I’m moving on to the next chapter.”

Mr Davis will conclude his time at the school at the end of the year, with Vicki Angus to serve as the acting principal for the first term of 2025 while the school recruits a new principal.

He said he was grateful for the support of the school community, as well as the wider Camperdown community, during his tenure.

“I know it hasn’t been the longest time, but I’ve really enjoyed my time and I’m looking forward to coming back and seeing the finished projects next year,” he said.
