In a nail-biting grand final against Bookaar at Camperdown last Sunday, the Knights lost the toss and were sent in to bat first.

Opener Campbell Walsh put in a great effort with the bat, retiring on 50, while team-mate Parker Walsh contributed 24 and Edmund Walsh 22.

Other contributors to the board for the Knights were Bradey Fratantaro (11), Leonard Walsh (9) and Bailey Clarke who finished the innings unbeaten on six.

Cobden made 4/133 in its 35 overs and, in reply, Bookaar managed 10/130.

The Knights’ Bailey Clarke was effective at the crease, taking 3/38 from five overs while other wickets fell for Parker Walsh and Eamon Sloate (both 1/17 off six).

During the recent Junior Country Week competition, Cobden’s young players also featured.

Parker Walsh was named under 17 Player of the Week for South West, while Rhys Darcy took a hattrick in the under 13s.

For season 2023/24, South West Cricket awarded Parker Walsh the batting award with 378 runs while Eddie Walsh was the leading bowler with 14 wickets.

Eddie also took out South West’s under 16 ‘Cricketer of the Year’ on 669 points.
